art-alphabet

ArtAlphabet (2009)

My first iPhone app, after learning the fundamentals of iPhone development from the Stanford University iPhone course (via iTunes). My goal was to design a richly visual app for young children, with a simple user experience suited to them. This goal led to designing an app for teaching the alphabet, but in a way that would be interesting and educational for parents, too. The design uses typography and photography based on three periods of design history: Arts & Crafts, Bauhaus, and early Modernism expressed in the designs and branding of the London Underground.
